Lahore: At least 11 policemen were killed and several injured in a rocket attack by bandits in Pakistan's Punjab province on Thursday. According to police, two police vehicles got stuck in mud on a kutcha road at Machah point in Rahim Yar Khan district, 400 km from Lahore.

Meanwhile, a gang of dacoits reached there and attacked both the vehicles with rockets. In the attack, 11 policemen were killed on the spot and many were injured. The dacoits also kidnapped some policemen and took them with them.
A spokesperson of Punjab Police said that the death toll may increase as the condition of the injured is very serious. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered IG Dr. Usman Anwar to go to the spot and free the kidnapped policemen.
A close associate of former ISI chief fled Pakistan
A close aide of former Pakistan ISI chief General Faiz Hameed has fled the country. According to a media report, Mohsin Habib Wariach was arrested on corruption charges and court martial proceedings are underway against him. He has fled the country to Britain to avoid arrest amid an ongoing investigation against him for misuse of official powers.
According to Samaa TV, Mohsin Habib Wariach is believed to have managed major business deals in Pakistan and abroad for Hameed. Hameed is facing court martial proceedings for allegedly abusing his position to extort money from a private housing society.
Several military officials and some civilians have been detained in connection with their alleged links with Hameed. Pakistan's Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi has neither confirmed nor denied reports of Wariach leaving the country.
