Israel blamed for the blast
Lebanon's Information Minister Ziad Makri condemned the pager blasts as an "Israeli attack". Hezbollah also blamed Israel for the pager blasts and said a strong response would be given when the time comes. The Israeli military declined to comment on Reuters' inquiries about the blasts.

According to Al Jazeera, Lebanon's Health Minister Firas Abiad said that 200 people are in critical condition due to the blast in the pagers. Many videos are rapidly going viral on social media, showing the explosion, the situation after it and the chaos in Lebanon's hospitals.
Biggest security breach
A Hezbollah official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the pager explosions were the biggest security breach suffered by the group in nearly a year of conflict with Israel. Hezbollah confirmed in a statement that at least three people had been killed, including two of its fighters. The cause of the explosions is being investigated. Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has been detained.
