Temple committees were threatened that if they wanted to celebrate Durga Puja, they would have to pay 5 lakh Bangladeshi Taka. If the money was not paid, the puja would not be allowed.
On September 22, some people from Madrasa vandalised Durga idols in Raipur area of Laxmiganj district. Idols were also vandalised in Barguna district. Some people from Hindu community had lodged a complaint with the district officials in Chittagong and Khulna on this matter.
'Threats were given to more than 25 temples'
Mahendra Nath, general secretary of the Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, said more than 25 temples in Dakop town of Khulna city have received threats demanding Rs 5 lakh for celebrating the five-day festival.
Mohammad Yunus government issued Tughlaq decree
Let us tell you that a few days ago, the interim government of Bangladesh led by Mohammad Yunus had issued a decree saying that during Durga Puja, no music should be played before Azan and during Namaz.
