Iran has rejected the request of select European countries not to take punitive measures against Israel. Some Western countries have asked Iran to stop the ongoing threats of military attack against Israel and have hinted at facing serious consequences if such an attack takes place.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani hit back, saying no practical and effective measures have been taken by Western countries to deal with the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. On August 12, the leaders of France, Germany and Britain called on Iran to stop its ongoing threats of military attack against Israel and discussed the grave consequences for regional security if such an attack were to occur.

Reacting to the statement of the leaders of Western countries, the spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that this statement has come at a time when, due to the indifference of Western countries, Israel is committing all kinds of international crimes including genocide and war crimes against defenseless Palestine.

Kanani criticized the United Nations and the UN Security Council for the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and for not taking action against Israel for more than ten months. He also warned that Israel's inhumane crimes against Palestine and the killings it commits abroad are increasing every day.
