News Topical, Digital Desk : Indian stock markets will be closed on Monday, January 26, on account of Republic Day. Trading will be suspended throughout the day on both the NSE and BSE. There will be no activity across all segments, including equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, and interest rate derivatives. Commodity markets will also be closed for the entire day. The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) will also be closed for both the morning and evening sessions on Republic Day, meaning there will be no trading in metals, energy, or agricultural commodities throughout the day.
When will the stock market open?
Following today's holiday, trading across all segments will resume as normal on Tuesday, January 27th. Republic Day is the second holiday of the calendar year on the stock market's holiday list for 2026. Indian exchanges will be closed for a total of 16 days throughout the year, including both national and religious occasions.
When will the stock market remain closed now?
After Republic Day on January 26, markets will be closed for Holi on March 3, followed by Ram Navami on March 26 and Mahavir Jayanti on March 31. In April, markets will be closed for Good Friday on April 3 and Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, while Maharashtra Day on May 1 will also be a trading holiday.
