Blasts during anti-Naxal operation

According to police, the incident occurred in the dense forests of the Karregutta Hills in Bijapur district. Security forces were conducting an anti-Naxal search operation in the area. During this time, pressure bombs planted underground exploded one after another, causing serious injuries to the soldiers.

DRG and Cobra battalion soldiers injured

Ten of the injured soldiers are from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) unit of the state police, while one is from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)'s Cobra battalion. The injured Cobra battalion soldier has been identified as Sub-Inspector Rudresh Singh, posted with the Cobra's 210th battalion.

Police officials said that Sub-Inspector Rudresh Singh and two DRG soldiers suffered leg injuries. Three other soldiers were struck by shrapnel in the eyes. Other soldiers also suffered injuries from the blast. All the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Raipur for further treatment, where their condition is reported to be stable.

Karregutta area has been a stronghold of Naxalites.

According to the police, the Karregutta area has long been considered a safe haven for Maoists. In November last year, security forces established a camp in Tadpala village, under the Usur police station area. Prior to this, in April-May, central and state forces launched a major 21-day operation there, killing 31 Naxalites.

A large quantity of weapons, landmines, and explosives were also recovered during that operation. Police have stated that the search operation will continue in the area and that Naxalite plots will be thwarted.
