News Topical, Digital Desk : A major controversy has erupted in the capital, Jaipur, over the burial of a body. Burials were prevented at the Pratap Nagar cemetery, after which the bodies were returned home. The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday afternoon. The Muslim side has accused the administration of serious negligence.

The family alleges that after the death of Rashid Khan, a resident of Pratap Nagar, Sheopur, his neighbor, Nazir Khan (85), arrived at the cemetery behind the Women's Polytechnic College at Haldighati Gate at around 1 p.m. During the burial, local residents began protesting, claiming the land belonged to a park, while the Muslim side maintains that a cemetery has existed there since 1991.

The police did not allow the body to be buried.

Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene, but it is alleged that, in the name of calming the situation, permission was denied for burial and the body was sent back home. It is reported that the body remained there for approximately 8-10 hours, while the Muslim side sat at the relevant police station, demanding action.

The Muslim side alleges that neither their complaint was registered nor any action was taken against those who withheld the body. They presented centuries-old cemetery documents to the police station, but despite this, no hearing was held. The administration is being accused of serious negligence.

Meanwhile, the police maintain that no formal complaint has been filed at the Pratap Nagar police station regarding this entire matter. They claim that this was a minor incident that is being blown out of proportion. A video has also been released by the Muslim side, in which some people are standing outside the police station and providing information about the incident. People allege that the body has not yet been allowed to be buried, and the administration has not taken any action in the matter.

This matter is sensitive and involves religious sentiments. If there is a dispute over cemetery land, the administration should resolve it on priority. Obstructing the funeral of a deceased person is considered a serious matter in any religion. It remains to be seen what action the administration takes in this matter.
