News Topical, Digital Desk : A sudden explosion occurred near the Police Parade Ground during Republic Day celebrations in Maharashtra on Monday morning, January 26th. Five people were reportedly injured in the incident. It is being reported that a balloon seller's nitrogen gas cylinder exploded, causing the powerful blast. 

The blast occurred around 9:15 am on Monday, barely 100 meters from the Malegaon Police Parade Ground, where the Republic Day flag-hoisting ceremony was underway. The Additional District Collector, senior police officers, school students, and a large number of members of the public attended the event.

Panic in the surrounding area after the blast 

A balloon seller was filling balloons with nitrogen gas a short distance from the parade ground when the cylinder suddenly exploded. The explosion was so powerful that it was heard far and wide, spreading panic in the surrounding area.

Two children were also among the injured

At the time of the incident, many people had gathered to buy balloons during Republic Day celebrations. Five people, Vinod Thorat, Mohit Jadhav, Atul Shewale, Pramila Yadav, and Ujjwala Mahajan, were seriously injured in the blast. The injured included two children and two women.

Two victims were reported to be in critical condition and were taken to Nashik for advanced medical care. The cause of the blast is under investigation.

Identification of those injured in the accident

The injured in the accident have been identified. According to police information, five people, including Vinod Thorat, Mohit Jadhav, Atul Shewale, Pramila Yadav, and Ujjwala Mahajan, suffered burn injuries. All the injured were immediately rushed to a local private hospital. Two of the injured, who are in critical condition, have been referred to Nashik for treatment.
