News Topical, Digital Desk : Hours after accepting US President Donald Trump's 20-point peace plan, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu categorically rejected any possibility of a Palestinian state under the deal.
In a video message after meeting with Trump at the White House in Washington, Netanyahu called the proposal historic but also tried to misrepresent parts of it, claiming the plan had succeeded in isolating Hamas.
Netanyahu rules out Palestinian state
Netanyahu clarified in the video that the agreement does not mention the establishment of a Palestinian state. When asked if the agreement hinted at a Palestinian state, he bluntly said, "Absolutely not. It's not even written in the agreement."
He added, "We have made it clear that we will strongly oppose a Palestinian state." Netanyahu claimed that Trump also agrees that a Palestinian state would be a great reward for terrorism.
However, the plan released by the White House clearly states that it will leave "a credible path toward Palestinian self-determination and statehood" after the redevelopment of Gaza and reforms within the Palestinian Authority. This statement contradicts Netanyahu's claims, creating confusion about the terms of the agreement.
