News Topical, Digital Desk : The Delhi government on Monday told the Supreme Court that the new law governing fees in private schools in the national capital will not be applicable for the academic year 2025-26. This was said before a bench of Justices PS Narasimha and Alok Aradhe , which was hearing a batch of petitions related to the implementation of the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fee Determination and Regulation) Act, 2025.
The law will not be applicable in the current academic year.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the Delhi government, told the bench that the law would not be applicable in the current academic year.
The Supreme Court was hearing a clutch of petitions, including those challenging the January 8 order of the high court which had refused to stay the notification directing private schools to constitute fee regulation committees.
But the deadline for forming such committees was extended. During the hearing, one of the lawyers representing the case argued that the High Court should decide the issue as quickly as possible because it involves numerous schools and millions of children. The High Court is aware of this.
