News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in four weeks and the soybean issue will be a key topic of discussion.
He said that farmers in the United States are suffering losses because China is not buying soybeans due to negotiation reasons and he said that he will stand with the farmers.
What did Donald Trump say?
In a Truth social post, US President Trump said, "Our country's soybean farmers are suffering because China isn't buying soybeans just for the sake of negotiations. We've made so much money from tariffs that we'll take a small portion of that money to help our farmers. I will never let our farmers down! Lazy Joe Biden didn't implement our agreement with China, under which they were supposed to buy billions of dollars worth of our agricultural products, especially soybeans. Everything is going to be great. I love our patriots, and so does every farmer! I'll be meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in four weeks, and soybeans will be a major topic of discussion. Make soybeans and other row crops great again!"
TikTok deal approved?
This comes after Trump announced on September 20 that Chinese President Xi Jinping had approved the TikTok deal for the video-sharing platform to continue operating in the US.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump said, “I had a good conversation with President Xi Jinping. He has approved the TikTok deal. We're waiting for the deal to close. We have to sign it; it may be a formality. The TikTok deal is about to happen, and investors are getting ready for it.”
Trump said the US would have strict control over the app and stressed that it was a very good deal for Washington.
Trump had said, "We will have very tight controls. This is a wonderful thing that has been created. I'm a little biased because, frankly, I've done very well with it. It gave me numbers that no one had ever heard of before. The young people of this country want it. The parents of the young people want it very much. So we were able to work out a deal with China. It's a very good deal for us. I hope it's a good deal for them too. These are American investors. They're very well-known people financially. They will have control over it. I want to thank President Xi Jinping because he was a gentleman. We have a good relationship."
