Why were 65 lakh people's names deleted from the voter list? Election Commission's reply to Supreme Court on SIR

The opposition is raising questions that under this process the Election Commission is removing many voters from the list. At the same time, now the Election Commission has responded to this in the Supreme Court.

The Election Commission told the Supreme Court that no voter in Bihar has been deprived of his rights. No voter will be removed from the voter list without giving notice.

What did the Election Commission say?

According to NDTV report, the Election Commission said that under the SIR process, every effort is being made to ensure that the names of all eligible voters are included in the final list. The Election Commission has given strict guidelines that the name of any voter should not be excluded from the list wrongly.

Accused of deleting 65 lakh names

The Election Commission filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Saturday saying that no negligence will be done in the inclusion and deletion of names during any SIR process. This statement of the Election Commission has come at a time when the Commission has been accused of removing the names of 65 lakh people from the voter list.

According to the Election Commission,

All voters are being given ample opportunities to submit documents. Officials are visiting booth level to motivate political parties to participate and run awareness campaigns among the people. For this, 38 District Election Officers, 243 Election Registration Officers, 2,976 Assistant Election Registration Officers, 77,895 Booth Level Officers, 2,45,716 volunteers and 1,60,813 Booth Level Agents have been appointed.

7.24 crore people submitted documents

The Election Commission says that out of 7.89 crore voters in the draft list released on August 1, only 7.24 crore people have submitted their documents. The names of the voters whose documents have not been received are being given to all the political parties from time to time. 246 advertisements have also been given in newspapers for the voters living outside Bihar.
