News Topical, Digital Desk : Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly advancing in the world of technology. The increasing accuracy of AI is posing a threat to future jobs. Discussions are now rife that artificial intelligence could replace humans in key roles within companies. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, has stated that he wants AI to take his job.
Indeed, while artificial intelligence is threatening jobs worldwide, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman himself has stated that he hopes AI will one day replace him. He stated that in the future, only those companies run by AI systems will thrive. AI will run companies better than humans.
If the first big company is not made then...
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the company that makes ChatGPT, said in a podcast that it would be a shame if OpenAI didn't become the first major company run by an AI CEO. He added, "I find it a very interesting thought experiment to consider what an AI CEO would have to do to run OpenAI better than I do, which will surely happen one day."
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman further stated that the possibility of AI running all departments of a company may be "single-digit years" away. According to him, the challenge of having AI take over as CEO of a company lies in humans' trust in humans, even when it's irrational.
Altman said that people trust others more than they trust AI. "An AI doctor is great, but you want a human. So, I think it's going to take a long time for society and people within an organization to get comfortable with it."
What will you do after leaving the CEO's chair?
It is worth noting that earlier, during a conversation with Axel Springer CEO Matthias Döpfner, Altman had said that the idea of AI taking over jobs does not scare him. Regarding what he would do after leaving the CEO's chair, Altman said that he would probably become a farmer. The Silicon Valley veteran, who owns properties in several places including San Francisco, Napa and Hawaii, said that after leaving the job, he would like to spend some time on the farm.
