News Topical, Digital Desk : According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Vishnu is the preserver of the universe, and Lord Shiva, or Mahesh, is the destroyer. Brahma is known as the creator. Despite being the creator of the universe, there is only one major temple dedicated to him in India, located in Pushkar, Rajasthan. There is a mythological story behind this, which is related to Goddess Savitri. Let's learn more about it.
Brahma Ji organized a great yagya
The Padma Purana recounts that Brahma once organized a great yagya in Pushkar for the welfare of the universe . According to the scriptures, the presence of a wife in any yagya is essential, otherwise the yagya's full fruition is not achieved. However, during the auspicious time for the yagya, Mother Savitri was not present, and the time was running out. Therefore, Brahma married Gayatri, a local girl present there, and began the yagya with her.
Mother Savitri gave this curse
When Mother Savitri arrived at the yagna, she found another woman sitting with Lord Brahma in her place . Seeing this, she became extremely angry. She cursed Brahma, saying, "Even though you are the creator of the universe, you will never be worshipped anywhere in the universe."
The gods prayed
When the gods pleaded with Savitri to relent, she declared that Pushkar would be the only place where Brahma would be worshipped in the prescribed manner. This is believed to be the reason why Pushkar is the only place in India to have a Brahma temple, renowned worldwide for its uniqueness.
