News Topical, Digital Desk : Amid the war with Iran, President Donald Trump said on Monday that the US is in very strong negotiations and dealing with the most respected person in Iran, but he declined to name that person.

He had said, "We are working with some people who I find very intelligent and trustworthy. The people inside know who they are. They are very respectable people and one of them may be exactly what we are looking for."

Who is that 'respected person'?

CNN reported that some reports suggested Mohammad Baqir Ghalibaf was referring to a respected figure within the Trump administration who was seen as a potential negotiator. However, Ghalibaf denied within hours that any talks were underway between Tehran and Washington.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf has never been shy about his role in suppressing the challenges facing the Islamic Republic.

“There has been no dialogue with the US and fake news is being used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and to get out of the quagmire that the US and Israel are stuck in,” he posted on X.

Ghalibaf had warned even before the war began.

Throughout the conflict, he has regularly used social media to provoke Trump and show his tough stance on Iran's terms for ending the war.

"We are certainly not demanding a ceasefire," he said on X on March 10. "We believe the attacker should be punished and taught a lesson that will prevent him from attacking Iran again."

Even before the war broke out, Ghalibaf was a prominent figure who warned that such a conflict would spread across the region. Experts say he has connections within the regime's centers of influence that could give him a key role in any negotiated settlement.

Having dedicated his entire life to the service of the Islamic Republic, Ghalibaf has now become a regime figurehead, unwaveringly loyal to the 1979 Islamic Revolution and supportive of its regional ambitions.
