
News Topical, Digital Desk : Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday said India is set to become one of the top three economies of the world in the next two to two-and-a-half years, reflecting the country's recent economic progress.
Addressing the platinum jubilee function of Engineering Exports Promotion Council (EEPC), Goyal said that in 2014, India was among the five weakest economies of the world. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has joined the top five economies of the world in 2025. In the coming two to two and a half years, India will become one of the top three economies of the world.
India will be a 30 trillion dollar economy by 2047
The Union Minister said that India's growth rate in the first quarter of the current financial year 2025-26 has been a record 7.8 percent. He estimated that India will become a $30 trillion economy by the year 2047.
What did Piyush Goyal say on GST reduction?
He credited reforms like GST for creating new opportunities. Goyal said that GST reforms are very comprehensive. With simplicity and reduction in rates, the country's economy will grow even further. New employment opportunities will increase. We should ensure that the benefits of reduction in GST rates reach the consumers.
