West Bengal: Mother and three daughters die under suspicious circumstances in Purulia, reason revealed:

News Topical, Digital Desk : Before Durga Puja, there was mourning in Latapada village under Bandowan police station area in Purulia district. The mysterious death of four members of the same family on Thursday night has created an atmosphere of mourning in the entire area. The death of a mother and her three daughters has shocked an entire family. According to the police, the deceased are Piya Gadai (30) and her three daughters Baisakhi Gadai (13), Pallavi Gadai (10) and Saurabhi Gadai (6).

It is being suggested that some poisonous substance may have been found in their dinner. Police suspect food poisoning. Locals said that the deceased, Piya's husband, Anand Gadai, had gone to a market in Jharkhand on Thursday to sell vegetables.

When he returned at night, he found his wife and children lying unconscious. All four were taken to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead. On Friday, police sent the bodies of all four to Purulia Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination and registered a case of unnatural death.

The deceased's father-in-law, Raghunath Gadai, said, “At around 8 p.m., my son Anand's daughter-in-law, Piya Gadai, asked for dinner. I didn't eat. The children and mother ate murmudas and pakoras and went to sleep in their room. When my son Anand returned home after 10 p.m., I opened the door. The lights in Piya's room were still on. As soon as his son opened his door and went inside, he saw the bodies of all four lying on the bed.”

Their son then brought the bodies of all four to the Bandovan Block Primary Health Center, where the doctor, after examining them, declared them dead. Initial investigations by the police suggest that this tragic incident may have been caused by food poisoning. However, the police say that the actual cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report is received. The family and neighbors are in shock. This incident, which occurred before the festival, has cast a pall of gloom over the entire area.
