Vrindavan: A huge crowd of devotees gathered on Thursday to have darshan of Thakur Bankebihari. The situation was such that there was a huge crowd in the market about two hundred meters away from the temple and the situation started deteriorating. In the humid heat, the condition of the elderly, children and women worsened in the crowd. It took about two hours for the devotees to reach the courtyard from the entry point of the temple.
Street crossings jammed
On Independence Day, devotees from Delhi, NCR and nearby districts flocked to Vrindavan. From early morning, vehicles of devotees jammed every intersection, road and lane of the city.
Even before the darshan was opened in Thakur Bankebihari temple, a crowd of lakhs of devotees had gathered from the temple entrance to Vidyapeeth and Jugalghat. When the darshan was opened in the temple, the crowd reached inside.
The devotees stopping in the temple premises disrupted the arrangements. Due to the stoppage, the devotees standing outside in the streets and markets were not getting entry inside and the number of devotees was continuously increasing. In such a situation, the pressure of the crowd started increasing and the condition of the devotees started deteriorating.
