Gorakhpur: On Saturday afternoon, in Nasirabad of Tiwaripur, a girl returning from school died after being crushed by a truck which entered the no-entry zone. The family and local people, angry with the incident, created a ruckus alleging negligence and protested by blocking the Ghasikatra-Bahrampur road for two hours.

The CO Kotwali calmed the situation by assuring action. On the complaint of the girl's father, the police registered a case of negligent driving and took the truck into custody as well as the driver.

Dharmendra Kushwaha's 11-year-old daughter Shipra, who lives in Nizampur locality, was a student of class three. She was returning home from school at 12 noon on Saturday. She was seriously injured after being hit by a truck near her house.

By the time the police reached the spot after getting information about the accident, the truck driver had taken Shipra to the hospital where the doctors declared her dead. On getting to know about this, the people of Nasirabad started creating a ruckus accusing the police of entering the no-entry zone in collusion with the truck.

They started protesting by blocking the road leading to Ghasikatra-Bahrampur dam. CO Kotwali Omkar Dutt cleared the road by assuring action against the culprits.

The CO said that goods had arrived in Galla Mandi by truck on Friday night. The driver was going towards Bahrampur Bandh with an empty truck in the afternoon. A case has been registered on the complaint of Dharmendra and the driver has been taken into custody.

Shipra was the elder of the two sisters

Shipra was the eldest of two sisters. She was a class three student in a school near her home. Her younger sister Simran, aged six, stays at home. Her father works as a security guard in a nearby school. After Shipra's death in the accident, her family members are inconsolable.

Cargo vehicles run throughout the day in no entry

The people of the locality who gathered on hearing about the death of the girl in the accident said that goods vehicles run all day in the no-entry area. The police do not take any action on complaints. In this area, many traders have built warehouses amidst the dense population where goods come in trucks and DCMs. Accidents have happened many times before this as well.
