If the police are harassing you then you can complain against them here.
Police is there for the safety of people. If the police start harassing people, then you can complain about it to the police vigilance department. In this department, the working of the policemen is investigated. In this department, you can complain about the policemen taking bribe or not performing their duty. When the police is not helping you or is threatening to implicate you in a false case, then you can complain about those policemen in this department. There is no interference of the state government or police officials in this department. A written complaint letter has to be given to complain. In which the victim has to tell how he is being harassed by the police. If the complaint turns out to be true and the policemen are found guilty, then action will definitely be taken against them. However, Police Complaint Authority has not been formed in all the states of India. Whereas the Supreme Court had given instructions for this in the year 2006 itself. In the states where Police Complaint Authority has not been formed, complaints are made only to the senior police officers.
