Pankaj Chaudhary, the younger son of Gorakhpur industrialist, the late Bhagwati Chaudhary, and former District Panchayat President Ujjwal Chaudhary, began his political career in 1989 as a councilor of the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation. Born on November 15, 1964, into an industrialist family in Gorakhpur, Pankaj Chaudhary was educated at Gorakhpur University. In 1990, he became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party's District Working Committee.
He was elected MP from Maharajganj for the first time in 1991.
He was subsequently elected to the 10th Lok Sabha in 1991 from the Maharajganj parliamentary seat on the BJP's symbol. He was elected to the 11th and 12th Lok Sabha in 1996 and 1998. He lost to Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party in 1999, but was re-elected in 2004. He lost to the late Harsh Vardhan of the Congress in 2009.
Pankaj Chaudhary has been a member of the Lok Sabha continuously since 2014. The party has not abandoned him. This time, Chaudhary became a Member of Parliament for the fifth time. He was re-elected in 2019. In the first expansion of the Modi cabinet, he was appointed Union Minister of State. He won the 2024 elections and became a minister.
