News Topical, Digital Desk : A bomb targeted the Jaffar Express train in Pakistan's Balochistan province on Tuesday, injuring several people.

The train, heading to Quetta, was attacked by an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Sultankot area near the Sindh-Balochistan border. At least six coaches were derailed, marking the latest attack on the Jaffar Express since March this year.

The Baloch Republican Guards claimed responsibility for the attack. They claimed that Pakistani army soldiers were traveling on the train. "The attack occurred when Pakistani army soldiers were on board the train. As a result of the explosion, several soldiers were killed and injured, and six coaches of the train derailed," the group said in a statement.

However, there has been no official confirmation of anyone's death yet.

Baloch rebels claim

The Baloch Republican Guards also said in a statement that "such attacks will continue until Balochistan achieves independence." Rescue teams and security forces have arrived at the scene, and relief work is underway. Videos shared on social media show injured people, highlighting the severity of the attack.

The Jaffar Express, which runs from Quetta to Peshawar, has been targeted several times this year. The deadliest attack occurred in March, when the train was hijacked in the Bolan area, killing 21 passengers and four security personnel. Security forces responded by killing 33 militants.
