News Topical, Digital Desk : After the Supreme Court stayed the petitions challenging the Waqf Act, the Central Government has taken a big decision regarding Waqf. According to sources, the Central Government will move forward regarding Waqf and the Waqf 'Umeed' portal will be launched on June 6. According to the Waqf Act, registration of Waqf properties on the portal is mandatory. This 'Umeed' portal will be launched with the aim of promoting the management and transparency of Waqf properties.

What is the full form of 'hope'?

The full name of 'Umeed' is Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency, and Development Act. Waqf properties across the country will be registered through this portal. According to sources, Election Commission data will be used for identification. Under this, it will be mandatory to register all Waqf properties within 6 months.

Property registered in the name of women will not be declared Waqf

Geo-tagging of every Waqf property has now been made mandatory and its complete details will have to be declared on the site. Apart from this, properties registered in the name of women or where women are the heirs cannot be declared as Waqf. It will be the responsibility of the Mutawalli (manager) to get the Waqf property registered. Registration of properties will be done through the State Waqf Board and for this the Waqf Board will provide technical help.

What next if I am not able to get it registered in 6 months?

Also, if any Waqf property is not registered within 6 months due to any technical issue or any other major reason, then they can be given additional time of 1-2 months.
