The Election Commission has adjourned and finalised the electoral list for the assembly seats going to polls in the first phase on April 9. The assembly elections in Bengal will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29 and the votes will be counted on May 4.

What does suspension of voter list mean?

The suspension of the electoral roll means that no person can be added to the voters' list for this assembly election. On Monday, the bench will also hear a suo motu case related to the 'gherao' of seven judicial officers involved in the SIR exercise in Bengal's Malda district.
