News Topical, Digital Desk : A strong earthquake struck several parts of Manipur on Tuesday morning. The epicenter was in Kamjong district, Manipur. The magnitude was 5.2 on the Richter scale.
According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake struck at 5:59 a.m. Residents in Kamjong and surrounding areas were terrified. People ran out of their homes as soon as they felt the tremor.
The epicenter was at a depth of 62 kilometers.
According to the National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake was at latitude: 24.703 N, longitude: 94.415 E, at a depth of 62 kilometers. The tremors were so strong that their effects were felt even in Nagaland and Assam.
However, there are no reports of casualties or major damage yet. Earlier on Monday, tremors were felt in Uttarakhand. A magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck Pauri Garhwal at 8:32 pm on Monday.
Its epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers. A 7.4 magnitude earthquake also struck Japan on Monday morning, generating waves up to 80 cm high that hit the coast. A tsunami alert has also been issued in Japan.
