News Topical, Digital Desk : The central government on Sunday said that all Indian sailors in the Gulf and West Asia region are safe and no incident involving Indian-flagged ships has been reported in the last 24 hours.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, through the Directorate General of Shipping, has so far facilitated the safe return of more than 2084 Indian seafarers, including 75 in the last 24 hours.

The ministry is coordinating

Port operations across the country are normal, according to a statement. The Ministry of Shipping is in constant coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian missions, and maritime stakeholders to ensure the well-being of seafarers and uninterrupted maritime operations.

The Maritime Control Room is operational 24 hours a day. Since its inception, it has received 6,053 calls and over 12,787 emails. In the last 24 hours alone, 80 calls and 112 emails have been received. Indian Missions across the region are in constant contact with the Indian community and are providing assistance and advice for their safety and well-being.

What did the Foreign Ministry say?

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that it is closely monitoring developments in the Gulf and West Asia. Flights are continuing from countries whose airspace is open. Since February 28, approximately 897,000 people have arrived in India from this region. Iranian airspace is closed, and Indians are being facilitated to travel through Armenia and Azerbaijan. Israeli airspace is also closed, and Indians are being facilitated to travel through Jordan and Egypt.
