News Topical, Digital Desk : The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission is conducting an examination for 1,253 assistant professor positions in 217 state-run degree colleges across the state. During this examination, a fire at a center in Lucknow caused widespread panic.

A fire broke out Saturday morning at the Government Girls Inter College, Vinay Khand, in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. The college was scheduled to hold an assistant professor recruitment exam that same day. The fire caused panic on the campus. The fire brigade and police were informed of the fire. There were no injuries. 

Upon receiving information about the fire, the fire brigade arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control. Investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the air conditioner in the principal's room. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

The fire brigade brought the fire under control in about half an hour. Furniture and other items in the room were destroyed. 114,955 applications were received for the 1,253 positions, which translates to an average of 92 applicants per position.
