News Topical, Digital Desk : In a shocking incident, a Bangladeshi woman arrested for illegally staying in India escaped from police custody in Mumbai.
The police officer said that Meerjan Begum Ismail Sheikh alias Nasreen was detained along with some other Bangladeshi nationals at the police quarters in Kurla.
Bangladeshi woman escapes from police custody on pretext of using washroom
Early Thursday morning, she asked the female constable on duty for permission to use the washroom. The constable granted her permission. When she didn't return for a long time, a search was launched, but she was nowhere to be found. CCTV footage showed her fleeing the premises with her husband, Manish Baldev Rajbhar, alias Ismail Shaikh.
Police registered a case
While the police were trying to trace the woman and her husband, a case was registered against them under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code for escaping from custody and abetting the escape, the official said.
