News Topical, Digital Desk : Often, stories sound interesting on paper, but don't translate well on screen. The same is true of "Toaster ." The film's concept is interesting, but it's not properly executed.

'Toaster' is the interesting story of the miser Ramakant

Set in Mumbai, the story begins with the miser Ramakant (Rajkumar) digging a grave. The story then moves forward a few weeks. A drug addict named Glen (Abhishek Banerjee) films an intimate video of local politician Amre (Jitendra Joshi). He plans to blackmail the politician and extort money from him. Meanwhile, Ramakant, a resident of Borivali, lives in a colony populated mostly by elderly people. His miserliness is so extreme that he doesn't hesitate to gift Tester perfume wrapped in a large box.

He unhesitatingly goes to his landlady D'Souza's (Seema Pahwa) house for breakfast. His wife Shilpa (Sanya Malhotra) is fond of watching the TV show Hoshiyaar Hindustan, a Crime Patrol-like show, and is troubled by his miserliness. Shilpa, a black belt in karate, gifts a toaster worth around five thousand rupees to her guruji's daughter at her wedding, but the wedding breaks down. Ramakant goes to ask for the toaster back. It is revealed that he has donated all the gifts to an orphanage. Later, this toaster causes trouble in Ramakant and Amre's life. Now the story is about how Ramakant and Amre deal with it.

The director was defeated in the second half

The story of "Toaster" was written by Parvez Sheikh, while the screenplay was co-written by him with Akshat Ghildial and Anagh Mukherjee. Ghildial's dialogues bring light moments of humor to the film. Directed by Vivek Das Choudhary, the first half of the film moves briskly and offers moments of light comedy. However, the story falters in the second half. The twists and turns fail to maintain the excitement.

The character of Malini, played by Archana Puran Singh, initially seems intriguing, but later feels unnecessarily stretched. The climax also fails to be as gripping as expected. The city is also a key character in the film. The only sense of Mayanagari in Toaster is the Marathi-speaking police officer (Upendra Limaye). The rest of the film lacks the Mumbai feel. It would have been better if the story had been set in a smaller town.

The performance of these stars is amazing.

Hit Cast: Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra reunite after The First Case. Rajkummar Rao captivates as the miser. He captures his ever-changing emotions with remarkable precision. Sanya Malhotra is a natural as Shilpa, with her innocence and enthusiasm.

Due to weak writing, Archana Puran Singh fails to portray Malini's ups and downs with gray hair. Upendra Limaye attempts to manage the situation within the confines of the screenplay. Seema Pahwa and Abhishek Banerjee appear in cameos. Patralekhaa, the film's producer and actor Rajkummar Rao's wife, appears in just one scene but doesn't add much to the story. Overall, Toaster falls short of expectations.
