News Topical, Digital Desk : Ukraine has been provided with more Patriot air defense systems to protect against deadly Russian attacks. However, the US has refused to consider providing the long-range Tomahawk missile.
Patriot air defense systems are supplied by Germany. They are only manufactured in the United States. US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he is not currently considering a deal that would give Ukraine long-range Tomahawk missiles for use against Russia.
Zelensky is constantly demanding this missile
The Tomahawk has a range of 2,500 kilometers, capable of striking deep into Russia, including Moscow. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been repeatedly demanding the missile, but the Kremlin has warned against supplying Tomahawks.
Trump has not yet agreed.
So far, Trump has not agreed to the US plan to sell Tomahawk missiles to NATO countries. Trump said he does not want to escalate the war. When asked by reporters while flying from Palm Beach, Florida, to Washington if he was considering a deal to sell the missiles, Trump said, "No, absolutely not."
However, he also said he could change his mind. Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte discussed the idea of Tomahawk missiles during their meeting at the White House on October 22. Rutte said on Friday that the issue was under consideration and that the decision was up to the US.
Russian forces advance into the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk
Russia said on Monday that its troops were advancing on the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, a transport and logistics hub that Moscow's forces have been trying to capture for more than a year. The Russian Defense Ministry said its troops were destroying encircled Ukrainian positions near Pokrovsk's railway station and industrial zone and had entered the city's Prigorodny district. Ukraine said its troops remained in Pokrovsk, although the situation remained difficult.
