News Topical, Digital Desk : In Chodavaram sub-jail in Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh, two prisoners escaped after attacking a jail officer with a hammer in a filmy style. The police showed prompt action and arrested both of them again within 24 hours.

The case dates back to September 5, 2025, when two inmates attacked a jail official and escaped from the jail. The two inmates have been identified as Nakka Ravi Kumar and Bezawada Ramu (26). The two escaped from the sub-jail after attacking head warder Vasa Veerraju with an iron hammer. The attackers allegedly snatched his keys, stole a mobile phone and fled from the jail.

Arrest within 24 hours of jail break

The Anakapalle district police immediately launched a massive search operation and combed the entire area. Their efforts paid off the next evening when the Visakhapatnam City Task Force police arrested the two men near Gollapalem junction in Visakhapatnam.

The mastermind was revealed in the investigation

Police investigation has revealed the jailbreak plot. Officials found out that the jailbreak plot was hatched by a third remand prisoner, Yeka Swamy, who is now accused of being the main conspirator in the plot. The stolen Vivo mobile phone was also successfully recovered during the re-arrest.

The incident was carried out due to provocation

Anakapalle SP Tuhin Sinha said, "The main reason for the jail break was the instigation of Yeka Swamy. Even after getting bail, A1 and A2 could not come out of the jail as they were unable to arrange for bail. They also had enmity with the head warder Veerraju."

Both Nakka Ravi Kumar and Bezawada Ramu, who were initially in the remand of Chodavaram police station, have been returned to judicial custody.
