News Topical, Digital Desk : Two Indian nationals studying in the US have been sentenced to jail in separate fraud cases. They are accused of defrauding millions of dollars by targeting elderly people.

 

Kishan Rajeshkumar Patel, a 20-year-old who entered the US on a student visa, was sentenced this week to 63 months in prison after pleading guilty to money laundering charges that he had been victimised as part of an online conspiracy, according to the US Department of Justice (DOJ).

 

In this, he also frightened the elderly by posing as an American official. Co-defendant Dhruv Rajeshbhai Mangukiya accepted his crime on June 16, 2025. He has not been sentenced yet. In another case, Indian student Moinuddin Mohammed has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a similar scam. He had defrauded the elderly of about 60 lakh dollars.
