News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump has removed and recalled 30 experienced ambassadors from their posts. The diplomats recalled by the Trump administration were appointed during the Biden administration and remained in their positions during Trump's second term.

The Trump administration's move appears poised for a major foreign policy shift, recalling diplomats from ambassadorships and other senior embassy positions in order to replace them with personnel who fully support President Donald Trump's America First priorities.

Services will end in January.

Two State Department officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said ambassadors posted to at least 29 countries were informed last week that their terms of service would end in January. They began receiving notices from Washington officials last Wednesday.

It should be noted that US ambassadors serve at the pleasure of the president, although they typically remain in their positions for three to four years. All of the ambassadors who received the notices joined during Biden's tenure, and the decision has been made to recall them. However, the ambassadors affected by the reshuffle will not lose their foreign service jobs; they will be able to return to Washington for other assignments if they wish.

Which countries will be affected?

The State Department has not yet disclosed the total number of diplomats affected or the countries from which they are being recalled. The State Department has described this as routine procedure. This decision has the greatest impact on African countries, as ambassadors are being recalled from 13 African countries: Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Mauritius, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, and Uganda.

US ambassadors to six Asian countries—Fiji, Laos, the Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, and Vietnam—are also being replaced. In Europe, Armenia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Slovakia are on the list. Career diplomats are also being recalled from two countries in the Middle East (Algeria and Egypt); two in South and Central Asia (Nepal and Sri Lanka); and two in the Western Hemisphere (Guatemala and Suriname).
