News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced a 30 percent tariff (import duty) on products from the European Union (EU) and Mexico. The increased tax will come into effect from August 1. Trump announced the increase in taxes on these two biggest trading partners of America on his internet media account.

Trump said this

This announcement by Trump is part of his plan to strengthen the US economy. He mentioned his plan during his election campaign in 2024 and has been continuously working on it after assuming the presidency this year.

In a letter to the President of Mexico, Trump has said that Mexico can help in securing our border but it is not doing so, hence he is taking a tough decision.

It should be noted that Mexico is a neighboring country of America. While in a letter written to the European Union, Trump has said that the loss that America is facing in trade with the EU is posing a threat to America's national security. It should be noted that 27 countries of Europe come under the EU.
