News Topical, Digital Desk : A horrific road accident occurred on Thursday in Karnataka's Chitradurga district. At least nine people were burned to death when a sleeper bus collided with a truck. The sleeper bus was traveling from Bengaluru to Shivamogga on the national highway when the accident occurred.

The collision between the two vehicles caused a massive fire, completely engulfing the bus. Some passengers managed to escape, but others were trapped inside, resulting in their tragic deaths.

Bus passenger narrated the horrifying scene

Some passengers and other eyewitnesses who were inside the bus have shared the horrific scene. One passenger, who somehow survived the incident, described the scene as screaming. He said he was asleep when the accident occurred and was thrown from his seat by the impact.

The passenger said he saw fire all around him, tried to open the door, but it wouldn't open. He said people were trying to break the glass and get out. Some were trying to save others, but the fire was spreading rapidly, making it difficult.

A passenger named Sachin, who was traveling on that road, said that the sleeper bus overtook us. A container truck, coming from the other side of the road, climbed over the divider and collided with the bus. The truck hit the part of the bus where the diesel tank was.

Another witness on the road said the accident caused a massive traffic jam, with vehicles stranded for about eight kilometers. He advised commuters to avoid this route.

The truck hit the fuel tank

Citing preliminary investigations into the accident, a senior police officer said the truck may have struck the sleeper bus's fuel tank, causing the fuel to spill. The officer also said nine people, including the truck driver, were killed in the collision. He said some passengers survived, and those injured were hospitalized.
