News Topical, Digital Desk : A Trinamool Congress councillor was arrested on Sunday with a magazine and six 7.65 mm cartridges in his luggage while trying to board a flight at Kolkata's Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.

The Trinamool Congress leader, identified as Sheikh Aminul Islam, is a councilor for Ward No. 14 of Pujali Municipality in the South 24 Parganas district of Bengal. He was about to board a domestic flight to Mumbai. Airport security personnel discovered the firearms after scanning his luggage.

The councilor could not answer the police's questions.

The councilor could not provide a satisfactory explanation for why he was carrying the cartridges and magazines and could not produce any documents authorizing his transportation. He was subsequently arrested and handed over to the local police station.

Police have launched an investigation into the matter. There has been no comment from the Trinamool Congress leadership.

Kolkata firing incident

Meanwhile, a firing incident took place at a gym in Charu Market area of ​​Kolkata on Sunday morning when two unidentified persons wearing helmets entered the gym and fired a few rounds from the weapons they had brought with them.

However, no one was injured in the shooting. After the shooting, the two criminals fled the scene. Police have also launched an investigation into the matter. They suspect the gym owner was their target.
