News Topical, Digital Desk : Today we're going to tell you about the powerful weapons used in the Mahabharata War, which even the bravest warriors found impossible to withstand. Some weapons could have ended the entire war in one go.  Let's learn more about them.

Only Arjuna had this weapon

Lord Shiva's Pashupatastra could destroy the entire world. In the Mahabharata War, only Arjuna possessed this weapon, which he had obtained from Lord Shiva after rigorous penance. However, Arjuna, fearing catastrophe, did not use it on the battlefield.

Other powerful weapons

1. Brahmastra -  This was Brahma's most lethal weapon, used in the Mahabharata. A Brahmastra could only be countered by another. In the Mahabharata War, Arjuna, Karna, Sri Krishna, Yudhishthira, Ashwatthama, and Dronacharya possessed the power to wield it.

2. Narayanastra - This weapon was an extremely powerful weapon of Lord Vishnu, continuously firing millions of deadly projectiles. Once fired, no other weapon could counter it. The only defense against it was complete surrender. During the Mahabharata War, it was used by Ashwatthama against the Pandava army to avenge the death of his father , Dronacharya , killing thousands of soldiers.

3. Agniya Astra - This was an arrow made of mantra energy, which burned its target to ashes. It could only be cut by the Parjanya Astra, which could cause a downpour of water. Arjuna possessed this weapon during the Mahabharata War, having received it from his Guru Dronacharya.

4. Vasavi Shakti - This was Indra's infallible weapon, which could never fail. Karna had kept this weapon for Arjuna, but he had to use it to kill Ghatotkacha. Another special feature of this weapon was that it could only be used once.
