News Topical, Digital Desk : After South Calcutta Law College, now a case of rape of a girl student has come to light in the boys hostel of Joka Campus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta. Police have arrested a second year student of the institute named Parmanand Jain in this case. When he was produced in the court, he was sent to police custody for seven days.
In her FIR lodged in Haridevpur police station, the student has reportedly said that the accused called her to the boys' hostel on Friday morning at 11.45 am on the pretext of counselling. He did not let her sign the hostel's visitors' book. He took her to a room in the hostel and gave her pizza and a drink laced with drugs to eat, which made her unconscious. After this, he raped her. When she regained consciousness during the rape and tried to resist, he beat her up.
'No rape happened'
On the other hand, the girl's father has claimed that his daughter has not been sexually harassed in any way. She is also mentally fit. He alleged that the police forced his daughter to file an FIR and made her write about rape in it. According to sources, the girl has refused to undergo medical test and give the clothes she was wearing at the time of the alleged rape for examination.
There is a lot of politics going on in the matter
Meanwhile, BJP has questioned the over-activity of the police. BJP leader Shankudev Panda said that the police acted so quickly because the name of a central educational institution had come up in the case, whereas it had become lax during the rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Hospital and the gang rape of a student at South Calcutta Law College because Trinamool Congress members were involved in them. On the other hand, Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that politics should not be done on such sensitive matters.
