
News Topical, Digital Desk : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday (July 25) announced the launch of "Delhi ko Garbage se Azadi - Swachhata Abhiyan" from August 1 in the capital. This special campaign will run for the entire month of August with the aim of making Delhi clean and garbage free. During the meeting, the Chief Minister of Delhi has called for making it a mass movement by linking it with the spirit of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The Chief Minister's Office said, “During this month-long campaign, intensive cleanliness drives will be carried out across the city, including residential areas, markets, schools, hospitals, temple complexes, slums and unauthorised colonies.”
People will say that we got freedom from garbage- Rekha Gupta
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has expressed hope that after the end of the campaign, she hopes people will say that Delhi has really got freedom from garbage.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta chaired a high-level meeting regarding this campaign, in which Urban Development and Education Minister Ashish Sood, Chief Secretary Dharmendra, senior officials of PWD, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), NDMC, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and other departments were present. Also, in the meeting, the preparations for the campaign were thoroughly reviewed and the action plan was finalized.
The organization's help will be taken in the campaign- CM
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that to make this campaign a mass movement, Resident Welfare Associations (RWA), Market Associations, Temple Committees, School-College Students, Social Organizations and common citizens will be involved. Along with this, a special portal will also be launched, where citizens will be able to register their participation by sharing pictures before and after cleaning.
According to the information, during the campaign, special cleanliness programs will also be organized every Saturday and Sunday, which will be widely publicized through various media and all the ministers, MLAs, MPs, Municipal Councilors of Delhi will participate in the campaign and will run special programs to connect people in their respective areas.
Focus will also be on government offices
According to the Delhi government, special attention will be paid to the disposal of junk and unusable items accumulated over years in government offices, schools and hospitals. In the meeting, the Chief Minister made it clear that this will not be just a superficial cleaning but a campaign for deep cleaning and proper disposal of garbage.
A big meeting has been called at the Municipal Corporation headquarters in Civic Center on July 29 to finalize the outline of the campaign and decide departmental responsibilities.
CM's appeal to the people
Apart from Delhi government ministers, MPs, councillors, representatives of various associations will also attend this meeting. Apart from this, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has appealed to the people of Delhi to not consider this campaign as just a government program, but to consider it as a part of their duties. She reiterated the idea of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which it was said that "Only when every citizen understands his duty, the country will become clean."
Urban Development and Education Minister Ashish Sood said that through this campaign, Delhi will give a new message of cleanliness to the country. He said that school and college students will be the main faces of the campaign and rewarding those who show activity on the portal is also being considered.
