News Topical, Digital Desk : Amidst the buzz of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list in Bengal, there is a race to become a voter in the Muslim dominated North and South 24 Parganas, Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia, Cooch Behar and North Dinajpur districts of the state. All these districts are adjacent to the border of Bangladesh. In view of this, the Election Commission is very cautious.

Monthly registration increased during the last three months

Sources in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Bengal said that during the last three months, the number of people applying for registration in the voter list in these districts has increased nine times. In these districts, the monthly registration in each assembly (Vidhan Sabha) constituency used to be around 100 on an average, which has abnormally increased to about 900.

It is known that the main opposition party in Bengal, BJP, has been accusing these districts of abnormal demographic changes. Experts say that those whose names are not registered in the voter list are afraid of being labelled as 'illegal citizens' and 'infiltrators'.

They are also ready with the new applicants

Due to this, along with new applicants, those people have also become ready who did not bother to get their names registered in the voter list for so many years. The commission fears that among the genuine applicants, fake ones may also try to get their names included in the voter list.
