A Western Disturbance is set to reactivate in the hilly states, leading to snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, cold winds and clouds from the mountains may bring chills and melting to the plains.

According to the Meteorological Department, an intense western disturbance is likely to cause light rainfall over the Western Himalayan region during January 26-28 and heavy rain/snowfall at some places on January 27.

The IMD says that there will be no significant change in the minimum temperature for the next two days. During this time, the mercury may rise by 4-6 degrees Celsius. However, after that, temperatures may drop by 3-5 degrees Celsius.

Snowfall alert in the mountains

Snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand has caused temperatures to plummet. Dense fog has enveloped surrounding areas, including Punjab. Several highways have been closed due to heavy snowfall. Srinagar recorded a low of minus 1.4 degrees Celsius.

Cold will increase in Delhi

Due to the active western disturbance in the hilly states, a cold wave is wreaking havoc in many states, including Delhi. The chilly winds are increasing the chill and sluggishness in the capital. Clouds are continuing to move across the sky. Rain may fall in some parts of Delhi-NCR before January 27th.

How will the weather be in UP-Bihar?

The effects of this western disturbance can be felt in many parts of Uttar Pradesh. Light rain is expected in some districts, especially in western Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, cold waves and fog will continue to affect Bihar. According to the Meteorological Department, a Western Disturbance is expected to bring thunderstorms and rain to many parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Rain in Kerala-Tamil Nadu 

Thunderstorms are expected in Tamil Nadu and Kerala on January 26. Dense fog is also expected in parts of West Bengal and Sikkim.
