News Topical, Digital Desk : The Congress government in Karnataka has suffered a major setback. The High Court has stayed the state government's order requiring private organizations to obtain prior permission to hold events on government premises. This order was seen as a move to target the activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). A single-judge bench of Justice Nagaprasanna granted an interim stay on the government's directive and scheduled the next hearing for November 17th.

Who challenged the government's instructions?

The petition challenging the government directive was filed by Punaschaitanya Seva Sanstha, which argued that the move violates the rights of private organisations to carry out lawful work.

What did the Karnataka minister say?

Earlier, Karnataka Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil clarified that the government's move was not aimed at any specific organization. He said, "There is nothing specific about this organization or that organization. Government or institutional property will only be used with proper permission and for the right purpose. Any violation will be prosecuted under existing laws."
