There are many actresses in Bollywood who have left a deep impression in the hearts of people with their excellent acting. Some become successful, while some struggle to make their presence felt. One such actress was Kajal Kiran, whose first film was a blockbuster hit. However, despite this success, she could not make a name for herself in the industry.
Made his debut with Rishi Kapoor
Born in a middle-class Marathi family in Mumbai, Kajal made her acting debut in 1977 with the film Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin opposite Rishi Kapoor. Her first film was a blockbuster hit and became the third highest-grossing film of the year. In 1980, she starred in Maang Bharo Saajna opposite Jeetendra. Her second film was also a commercial success.
Kajal got the tag of a flop actress
In her 14-year career, Kajal worked in 40 Hindi films as well as some Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam films. Despite her initial success, Kajal could never come in the category of top actresses of Hindi cinema. After some time, all her films flopped at the box office and she was called a flop actress.
Kajal did not get any other films
Kajal's first film was a blockbuster, but Kajal did not benefit from it. After her first film, Kajal did not get any film offers. The actress once blamed Rishi Kapoor for ruining her career as she was cast opposite Rishi in her first film and all the limelight went to him. Rishi was one of the highest paid actors of that time. His romantic hero image took away the limelight from Kajal. The actress said that Rishi ruined her career.
The director refused
When Kiran was shooting for Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin, director Nasir Hussain told her not to sign any other film until the results of her first film came out. Kajal did the same but was not approached by other filmmakers even after her first film became a blockbuster.
