News Topical, Digital Desk : Controversy has erupted over the ₹43,000 crore tunnel road project proposed by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to ease Bengaluru's traffic congestion. Tejasvi Surya, BJP MP from Bengaluru South, has strongly opposed the project, saying the BJP will not allow public money to go to waste.

Tejashwi's options were rejected

Tejasvi Surya has been consistently opposing the tunnel road project, prompting D.K. Shivakumar to challenge him to come up with an alternative solution to the traffic problem. In response, Tejasvi Surya met with Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Tuesday and presented him with a PowerPoint presentation about alternative traffic improvements.

Following this meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister dismissed Tejasvi Surya's proposed options as "unhelpful." After the Deputy Chief Minister rejected the options, Tejasvi Surya presented the same PowerPoint presentation at a press conference on Wednesday, offering solutions to the traffic problem.

18 KM long tunnel road proposed

Tejasvi Surya stated that the proposed 18-kilometer tunnel road, costing ₹43,000 crore, would only serve 1,600 car drivers, while improved public transportation, costing the same amount, would serve 16,000 people per hour. He added that Bengaluru's traffic problems can only be resolved by strengthening alternative public transportation.
