News Topical, Digital Desk : The Trump administration on Tuesday issued a stern warning to Indian and foreign students studying in the US. According to the government, if students do not attend classes, that is, miss classes or leave the course midway, their visas may be cancelled in the future. The US Embassy in India has also issued an advisory regarding this matter.

What did the embassy write in the advisory?

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the US Embassy in India asked students to always follow the terms of their visa and maintain their student status to avoid any problems.

"If you withdraw, skip classes, or leave your program of study without notifying the school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future U.S. visas. To avoid any problems, always follow the terms of your visa and maintain your student status," the post reads.

The embassy also warned that if a person "remains in the United States beyond your authorized stay period, you may be deported and face a permanent ban on future travel to the United States."

Students should follow the conditions imposed under F-1 visa: Government

This warning comes in light of the strict conditions imposed under the F-1 visa, which require international students to maintain a full course load and regular attendance under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). Violation of these conditions could result in removal from the program and jeopardize the student's legal status in the country.
