News Topical, Digital Desk : Teachers of government schools were called upon to have lunch with students to ensure the quality of food. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy said this while addressing a program organized on Teachers' Day in Hyderabad. Reddy said that he feels sad when incidents of food poisoning occur in government schools even though the government is increasing funds for food and other basic necessities.

What will be the benefit of this, CM told

Reddy, who also holds the education portfolio, said he would also visit schools and have meals with students. "If teachers eat with students, it will help in maintaining proper standards of food preparation," he said.

Government teachers will be sent to Singapore and South Korea

The Chief Minister asked the teachers to inform the government about the requirements for improving the quality of food and other facilities. Reddy said his government was planning to send about 200 teachers to countries like Singapore and South Korea every year to study the best practices in the field of education.

24 lakh students study in 27,000 government schools

He said, "Countries like Singapore and Japan have developed because of quality education." Reddy said there are about 24 lakh students studying in 27,000 government schools in the state, while 34 lakh students study in 11,000 private schools.

The qualification of government school teachers is much better

He said, "The qualification of teachers in government schools is generally better than those in private schools." Reddy said a committee comprising former Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao, MLA Kadiyam Srihari and officials has been formed to prepare the new education policy for the state.

Praised former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

Citing the success of former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Reddy said, "He was elected for the second and third term mainly because of the changes he brought in education. He successfully took education to the poor sections through teachers."

Why did the CM say- I also have some self-interest?

The Chief Minister, admitting his political ambitions, said, "I too have some selfishness. If you do good work, there can be a possibility for me to get a second and third term. I do not want to hide anything. I will work hard. I will work hard along with you."
