UP News: Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda of Jyotirmath in Uttarakhand, who opposed the Prana-Pratishtha ceremony in January this year by calling the Ram temple in Ayodhya 'half-finished', refrained from worshiping in the Ram temple on Sunday. He said that the temple is incomplete and worship cannot be done in a partially constructed temple. Swami Avimukteshwarananda said that he will worship in the Ram temple only when the spire of the temple is completely built.

When asked by reporters about not visiting the Ram temple, Saraswati, who reached Ayodhya, said, "Worship cannot be done in an incomplete temple. It is incomplete. I will worship in the Ram temple only when the temple's spire is fully built." He performed special worship at the Chineshwarnath temple and circumambulated the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in the Ramkot area of Ayodhya.

Shankaracharya started the nationwide 'Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra' from Ayodhya. Saraswati called a religious assembly here in the presence of the saints of Ayodhya. In this religious assembly, a call was made to implement the constitutional provisions and make a law to ensure unrestricted protection of the cow.

Government should ban cow slaughter- Swami Avimukteshwarananda

Addressing the Dharamsabha, he said, "In our country, cow is worshipped as Gau Mata. But it is unfortunate that the same country which worships cow is also the second largest exporter of cow meat in the world." He said, "We urge the government to take steps in the honour of religion and cow and ban cow slaughter. Our yatra will pass through different regions of the country, in which prominent Mahants and common people will join us."
