The Supreme Court on Wednesday made a very important remark while hearing the petitions filed regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025. The court termed the violence during protests against the new Waqf laws as 'very disturbing'. A bench of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice KV Vishwanathan made this remark while hearing the petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the recently amended Waqf Act.

'This should not happen if the matter is pending here'

During the hearing, Chief Justice Khanna said, 'One thing that is very disturbing is the violence happening here. If the matter is pending here, then this should not happen.' Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of the Central Government, targeted the protesters and said, 'They think that this can create pressure on the system.' However, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing on behalf of a Muslim organization, opposed this argument and said, 'We do not know who is pressurizing whom.' On this, the Chief Justice talked about highlighting some 'positive points' of the bill.
