Supreme Court seeks status report from Telangana Speaker

Singhvi said the Speaker could not decide on all the disqualification petitions as he had to undergo eye surgery and sought eight weeks' time to complete the proceedings.

Senior advocate Dama Seshadri Naidu, appearing for the BRS MLAs, said the Speaker cannot be given time again and again as he has not followed the court's directions.

He told the bench, "The Speaker was given three months to decide the disqualification petitions, and that period has long expired." He opposed granting two more weeks. The bench said it was giving a last chance, after which the consequences would have to be faced.
