During her tenure as a judge, Sushila Karki has taken a tough stand not only against corruption but also against terrorism. This is the reason why she became the first choice of the Gen-ji and at the age of 73, she became a prominent face of Nepal's politics.

Sushila Karki was born in 1952 in Shankarpur, Viratnagar. Her father was a farmer by profession and Sushila was the eldest daughter among seven siblings. In 1971, she obtained a bachelor's degree from Mahendra Morang, Tribhuvan University and then graduated in political science from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 1975. After completing her law studies in 1978, Sushila Karki started practicing law from Viratnagar itself.
Found a life partner in UP
Sushila Karki tied the knot with famous Nepal Congress leader Durga Prasad Subedi. The two met at Banaras Hindu University, after which they got married.
Impeachment motion came against Sushila
After earning a name in advocacy for many years, Sushila Karki was made a senior advocate in 2007 and in 2009 she became the first woman Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal. In 2016, Sushila again became the 24th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal. However, during this time the Sher Bahadur Deuba government brought an impeachment motion against her, which was later withdrawn.
